The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said that 18 areas are placed under Storm Signal number 1. These are Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Island, Siargao Island, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Davao del Sur, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin Island, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Bukidnon, North Cotabato, Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, and South Cotabato. PAGASA warned all the people who are living near coastal areas, low-lying areas and mountains slopes must be prepared and they are advised to evacuate in a higher grounds. PAGASA also stated that heavy rains that typhoon Tonyo brought will trigger flashfloods and landslides. The Philippine Coast Guard grounded 31 vessels at Cebu ports for 12 hours after the PAGASA hoisted Public Storm Signal No. 1 over Cebu and most of Central Visayas because of typhoon “Tonyo.” While Palawan will be experiencing heavy rains and strong winds that is the reasion why the PAGASA warned the residents to take precautions against possible flashfloods and landslides.
