Here in the Philippines the IT Parks are boosting in Manila and at the same time in Metro Manila to support the infrastructure and connectivity needed to boost the robust growth of the country’s Business Process Outsourcing industry. The new Information Technology Parks outside Metro Manila are in the cites of Mandaue, Cebu, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Biñan, Iloilo, Baguio, Tarlac, Dasmariñas, Cabanatuan, General Santos, Dumaguete, Naga, Lipa, Urdaneta and San Fernando. The new IT Parks is also in the municipalities of Sibulan and Bacong, Marilao Bulacan, Silang and Rosario Cavite and Negros Oriental.
With the Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Business Process Outsourcing are the predominant locators in IT parks registered. The government offers tax incentives to Business Process Outsourcing firms including the value added tax and income tax exemption. The IT-BPO industry is one of the country’s biggest job creators. The sector recorded $11 billion investments and created 638,000 jobs. It expects $13 billion revenues on a labor force of 764,000 in 2012. And by the year 2016, its projects $27 billion revenues and jobs for 1.3 million Filipino workers.
The Philippines holds a portion of the global outsourcing market because of the English proficiency of Filipinos. The rising demand for call center services leads the Business Process Outsourcing boom. The call centers count among its clients giant multinationals. The Pharmaceutical firms outsource their medical transcription in the country. This 2012, some grants and subsidies were earmarked by different agencies and institutions for the sector’s technical and educational development. In technical assistance for skills enhancement, the Asian Development Bank granted P27.3 million. A state universities nationwide were allocated a budget of P125 million to fund Development Authority for training. The ICT Office of the Department of Science and TEchnology allocated P350 million to support the IT-BPO industry.
